WAPedia – Review

If you use Wikipedia everyday like we do, then this app is for you. And yes, we really mean it. Its way faster than browsing articles using your browser. Their description on Android Market promise us very fast wikiwalk experience, even on Edge – and we prove their claim to be spot on.

WAPEDIA provides all of Wikipedia greatness on your cellphone. Searching is a breeze, it auto-populates search suggestion as you type. Article formatting is nice and customizable. You can change the font size, image size (you can hide the image too if you want), page length and theme (white or black). The app design is straight forward, we find no problem going from one article to another. One minor convinient would be finding way to go back to the first screen. There is a home icon, but way in the bottom of the article, and not on the menu itself.

If Wikipedia is not your thing, but you like other Wiki. This is also for you. There are so many wiki out there powered by MediaWiki (the software that Wikipedia Foundation build). Ranging from Wikipedia siblings (e.g Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikibooks, etc), Entertainment Wikis (Harry Potter Wiki, Twilight Wiki, Star Wars Wiki, etc) to something bizzare like Uncyclopedia. Users can change wiki engine / language easily by pressing menu and choose the downward arrow icon. By doing that, we figured that Wiktionary can be a good alternative to your dictionary apps.

Sharing is caring, and WAPEDIA helps you doing just that. Press menu and choose share icon – you can share the article you love through all channel that your Android phone had. Running out of memory on your Android phone? Don’t want to install more apps? Fine, just go to http://wapedia.mobi from your browser.
